The Grove Barn
“Knowledge is of two kinds. We know a subject ourselves, or we know where we can find
information on it.”
Samuel Johnson

Brief encounters.

Most of our short guides fall into
what we call our Hoofprint series;
colourful booklets giving distilled
information about particular topics.

The idea is that, just as you might
buy a guidebook when you visit
a stately home, so you might also
want a brief informative guide to
a topic which interests you. In this
way Manx cats, the three legs of
Man, and Vikings all fall within our
Hoofprint series. They are
– we hope – lively and
economical introductions to
the subject.

The only book which provides brief
information and which is not part of
our Hoofprint series is Sites &
Stories
. Its twelve chapters provide
short introductions to twelve of the
Isle of Man’s attractions, and each
complements a short story set in the
same attraction.

So, fact or fiction, we hope you find
something you like.
